Welcome to the Dazzling Reborns by Amy. I take hand sculpted and 3D printed vinyl doll kits and handcraft them to resemble a human infant with as much realism as possible, referred to as reborning, which requires many layers of hand-painted heat-set paints & between 12-25 hours for the rooted hairs. When reborning is completed, these dolls can often times be mistaken for real babies. My reborn dolls are hand painted and micro (not quite mono) rooted carefully and strategically using top quality heat set paints (sometimes details added with air dry paints) and alpaca, mohair, or human hair. I use Heat set varnish and occasionally I will use air dry varnish for finishing touch ups or lip and eye glossing, so please read details carefully on each creation. Each reborn is filled with fine glass beads and premium poly fill to create the feel and weight of a real baby.
Reborn dolls are often purchased by various doll collectors who admire the lifelike details by individual artists, however they are a wonderful therapy process for those who have experienced a life event causing trauma due to a loss of a baby, child, loved one, or other various individual emotional causing stresses. Simply holding, displaying, or snuggling one of these beautiful creations have proven to instill a much-needed soothing and comforting sensation as a therapy doll. These creations are not recommended as toys; handling daily, or trying to wash or bath them can cause paint to rub or scratch off more easily. Varnish is a great protective layer, but it still can be rubbed or scratched off.
Each of my reborn babies will be unique and one of a kind hand painted pieces of art. I do not technically do custom orders, but I have been known to recreate a sculpt I adored, so please do reach out to me and inquire. I often times will create a new reborn every couple weeks and post it’s details on this page as well as on my Face book page. As a newer reborn artist (started painting in January 2021) I’m always improving and critiquing my skills and techniques and can’t imagine that ever changing, no matter how many years I’m creating these precious babies.
All of my videos are taken with my cell phone, and photos are taken with a digital camera while using photography lighting and/or natural light, however neither photos or videos are altered or enhanced in any way other than cropping.
My prices range from $750-$1875 for newborn or smaller babies. I’d say my average would be $1275. Higher end pricing would reflect a SOLE kit, or hard to find kit. I have found German vinyl kits do not paint as smoothly or consistently with my heat set paints and I tend to lower the pricing for those at $1000 or less. I don’t consider them boo boo babies, but just not up to my expectations of my usual work. Dolls that are 3 months and bigger typically range in pricing from $1500-$2300.
